The death of Ozzy Osbourne left the rock community looking back on the impact left behind by the Prince of Darkness. Heavy metal band Black Label Society will release their upcoming album with a special tribute to Ozzy, as frontman Zakk Wylde was his longtime guitarist.
Their 12th studio album, Engines of Demolition, will drop on March 27, with the official tracklist revealing a special song titled “Ozzy’s Song.” Whether the song is an original or a tribute to the rockstar is unclear for now.
Wylde is known for having been Ozzy’s guitarist for decades, having first shared the stage with him in 1987 after taking over for Jake E. Lee. He made his debut at the U.K.’s Wormwood Scrubs Prison when he was just 20 years old.
He often described his relationship with Ozzy as “more than the music” and available to the Osbourne family at a moment’s notice. The Black Label Society frontman played with Ozzy until the very end, up until July’s Back to the Beginning farewell concert.
“I wasn’t thinking when we were doing the show that this was the last time I’m going to be doing ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’ with the boss, or this is the last time I’m going to play ‘Crazy Train’ with him or anything like that,” Wylde told NJ.com. “I was just going, ‘Let’s do this and let’s have a good time, like always.”
Black Label Society’s new album is available for preorder on MNRK Heavy’s website, with it including three of the band’s previously released singles. It also includes two unreleased tracks.
Starting in late February, the band will begin their 2026 tour in San Antonio, Texas, while promoting the album. The tour will include Wydler’s Black Sabbath tribute band, Zakk Sabbath, and Dark Chapel as their opener.
