Carrie Underwood is taking heat from some American Idol fans for a weird remark she made on the Monday, February 2 episode of the show. The former Idol winner and current judge said something odd about, of all things, a contestant’s knees. Chances are that Underwood meant it as a harmless comment, but some people bristled anyway. Others gleefully ate it up, however.

Per Star Magazine, Underwood quipped to judge Luke Bryan, “I couldn’t stop looking at her baby knees.” Bryan was mystified, so Underwood explained herself. “Like when you have a face in your knees?” she went on.
“Right after [Princess] Kate and [Prince] William had their baby George, my knees were in a magazine and it was like, ‘Prince George’s face was in Carrie Underwood’s knees!’ And I was like, ‘What the crap is going on with my knees?’”
Carrie Underwood Referred to Her Own (Singing) Knees
The bizarre interlude continued. Bryan and judge Lionel Richie seemingly got a kick out of the whole thing. Then Underwood stood up and said she could make her knees sing, too. (Yes, that is what she said!) And she demonstrated by saying, “Bah, bah” that sounded more like a sheep to me. The caption is “I can make my baby knees sing!”

Some Fans Took Umbrage Over the Odd Comment; Others Thought It Was a Hoot
Carrie Underwood’s cringe-y remark hit a nerve. Although some did find her comment kind of cute and chuckle-worthy in a peculiar way.
“such a weird comment as if young women don’t feel insecure enough in our society let’s just make a new one up i guess?? disappointing and just strange when there are so many better topics of conversation like her incredible voice and unique ‘instrument.’”

“I thought it was funny! Yall need to lighten up! Life is short and it wasn’t an insult lol it was joke!”
“We don’t love you”
“The way Luke knew that a funny story coming up cracked me up! I love these three together, all of them make fun of themselves and each other and it’s so easy to watch”
“Her what??? lol’
It comes days after Underwood was branded as unrecognizable after her American Idol audition from 20 years ago resurfaced.
The country music star was skyrocketed into the spotlight after she won the fourth season of the singing competition show in 2005.
