Meghan Markle’s long-awaited Hollywood return is making headlines — but experts warn her comeback could easily backfire.
The Duchess of Sussex has stepped back into the spotlight for her first acting role since marrying Prince Harry in 2018. According to The Sun, Meghan was spotted on the Pasadena set of Amazon MGM’s upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends, where she’ll reportedly make a cameo as herself. The film stars Brie Larson, Lily Collins, and Jack Quaid.
While fans see this as a bold move, royal commentators are divided. Some describe the cameo as a “vanity project,” arguing that Meghan is trying to reclaim her image after years of controversy. “Hollywood hasn’t fully embraced her,” said royal expert Hilary Fordwich. “This may be her attempt to pivot and regain control of the narrative.”
Others, however, believe her timing has stirred quiet frustration at the Palace. Commentator Kinsey Schofield noted that Meghan’s film appearance coincided with Prince William’s trip to Brazil for the Earthshot Prize. “Every time William has a major event, Meghan and Harry reappear — it’s become a pattern,” she said.
