Meghan Markle Makes Her First Acting Comeback in Eight Years — And This Time, She’s Playing Herself

Meghan Markle is preparing to step back into acting for the first time in eight years, marking her return to Hollywood after leaving the industry to become a working royal.

She is set to appear in a new film alongside Lily Collins, Brie Larson, and Jack Quaid.

According to reports, Meghan will play herself in the upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends, which centres on two couples — one famous, one not — navigating the dynamics of friendship and celebrity.

The Duchess of Sussex was spotted on set in Pasadena, Los Angeles, filming for the Amazon MGM Studios project.

A source told The Sun:
“This is a huge moment for Meghan and signals her return to what she truly enjoys. She’s been flooded with offers, but this one felt right.”
The insider added that Prince Harry is fully supportive and simply wants Meghan “to do whatever brings her joy.”

Meghan is widely known for her role as Rachel Zane in the hit legal drama Suits, and previously appeared in Horrible Bosses, Get Him to the Greek, and Remember Me.

Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties and moved to the United States in 2020.

Meghan’s Acting Background

The Duchess starred in Suits for seven seasons between 2011 and 2018 but has spoken openly about the challenges she faced early in her career. She recalled attending countless auditions and facing repeated rejection, which she said took a toll on her confidence.

She also worked as a “briefcase girl” on the US version of Deal or No Deal before landing more substantial roles.

Experts say Meghan may now be struggling to define where she fits professionally as she balances her As Ever lifestyle brand, public speaking commitments, and ambitions in the fashion industry.

In a recent podcast, she admitted she has “sometimes” missed acting.

Back in 2015, she wrote about how her role in Suits changed her life, saying,
“My cheeks still hurt from how hard I smiled.”

However, as her relationship with Prince Harry grew more serious in 2016, her character’s future on the show became uncertain.

According to biographer Tom Bower, showrunner Aaron Korsh had already planned to write her out at the end of the 2017 season. Bower claims Meghan’s agent, Nick Collins, was aware that major film opportunities were not coming her way at the time, and her career was stalling.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry Reflects on Britain Ahead of Remembrance Day

While Meghan prepares for her Hollywood return, Prince Harry has written a heartfelt Remembrance Day essay titled “The Bond, The Banter, The Bravery: What It Means To Be British — By Prince Harry.”

In it, he speaks about the humour, camaraderie, and courage that define British identity. Despite living in the US, Harry wrote:

“Britain is, and always will be, the country I proudly served and fought for.”

He praised the “banter of the mess, the pub, the clubhouse, the stands,” calling it part of being British. He urged the public to remember not just the fallen, but veterans living with the “weight of war,” encouraging people to visit them, share a cup of tea or a pint, and remind them their service still matters.

Harry’s message was released as he began a two-day visit to Toronto to meet Canadian veterans and military charities during the Remembrance period.

His reflections coincided with Prince William’s major tour of Brazil and the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony.
